We are keen to help fight against our current climate change and do what we can to help this cause. Each year we work together as a nursery to apply for our eco schools award. Our aim is to get the children involved as much as possible and develop their green skills as its so important that they learn from a young age how to care and look after our environment. We follow our sustainability action plan and have a sustainability lead (Alice) who ensures staff training and learning is kept up to date.

What we do at nursery to help reduce our eco footprint:

  • Reduce single use plastic items
  • no glitter or sequins
  • take part in community litter picks
  • recycle in each room
  • turn off the lights
  • grow our own fresh produce in the garden

We have made our own eco code called eco five. These are our five main aims that are most important to the children and staff.  All of our eco information is displayed on our eco board for staff and children to see.

Eco Five

  • Keep our parks and play areas litter free
  • The more we plant, the more we grow
  • Swap single use plastic to reusable
  • Be kind to plants and wildlife
  • Make fun crafts from recycling
